INTENTION SETTING 2018:New Year, fresh start! As we enter 2018, I bet you’re bombarded with people sharing New Year’s resolutions on their IG feeds. Maybe you love them or maybe you just don’t know how anyone stays committed to big, broad or too many goals (seriously though).
Often times we set goals because we think we’re supposed to (it’s a new year after all). But when the motivation doesn’t come from within, the likelihood of success is low (truth). Ok, it’s time to be honest with your yourself (real talk):
- what’s important to you?
- what do you value?
- what’s going to support your growth and development?
To get started, write a brief paragraph on what you can change in your day-to-day routine to make your life more fulfilling. Here are some questions to get you started (source - wanderlust):
- What are you passionate about? What do you want to cultivate more of in your life?
- What is going right in your life? What seems to be working well?
- What is not going right and where can you make some positive changes?
Now make a list to help you create these changes that will lead you to greater fulfillment. Intentions are not goals. Goals put pressure on us and have an external outcome. Intentions align us with our purpose.
